This year we celebrated the 4th of July in Mexico. We drove 12 hours with a 16 month old to enjoy some fun in the sun with family. Grandma and Grandpa Trevino, Auntie Lori, Uncle Evan and us headed to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) – we love this spot! It is a resort right on the beach, the hardest decision for a whole week is do we go left to the beach or right to the pool. This is our second time at this spot and we can’t wait to go back! We are so lucky that Grandma and Grandpa are so willing to share their timeshare with us and hopefully next year the airport there will be done and then we won’t have to drive forever to get there.
This is a dinosaur statue at a gas station that we stopped at in Arizona our drive down.
Emily loves, loves, loves the water!! She would stay all day at the pool or the beach if we would let her. She came home with the best tan ever!!
Emily was not quite walking on her own when were there, she took her first steps right here at the side of the pool walking with Daddy.
This is mommy and Emily at the beach, the water goes out really far in the evening and comes back in the morning – the water is fairly shallow and the waves are pretty mild which makes for some great playing!
Grandma got caught sharing her soda with Emily and we got proof!
Emily loved all of her sand toys and this beach tent helped keep her out of the sun! We made some really cool beads from the sand at the beach while we were there. It was super easy and gave us something to do for an afternoon!!
Daddy and Emily playing in the water.
Auntie Lori sure loves the time that she gets to spend with Emily. Here they are relaxing on the beach watching the rest of us goof off in the waves.
Here’s the girls enjoying their afternoon swim!
The town is about a 20 minute drive from the resort, so we usually pick one or two days to head in and do some shopping (one of my favorite parts of the trip). It is hot and humid there, but there are some great deals, I have even started to pick up on the art of negotiating.
On the Fourth of July there was a big celebration at the buffet with all the greats of American foods and complete with fireworks on the beach!
One morning while sitting in our bungalow at the pool there was a pelican just walking right next to us. He even got in the pool and the pool guys had to try to catch him and return him to the beach. I was trying to show how close the pelican was to us without making him mad – I had to keep watching over my shoulder.
Emily having fun playing in the pool.
Emily liked to be pulled around in her floating crab (I like that this gave her shade while in the pool). Sometimes she would get tired of this though and just want out to play!!
Emily and Auntie Lori hanging out right next to our bungalow.
Grandma and Emily liked to hang out in the bungalow and play. We would have to go out around midnight every night and sleep in one of these to save for the next day for us. Each couple took their turn sleeping the cabana so that we could have it all day. If you weren’t there by at least 2 a.m. you would not be able to get one.
Grandma, Grandpa, Emily and Anna on the beach! Boy I sure miss it!
Daddy and Grandpa loves to let Emily walk all the way to the water and then let her continue to stand and wait for the waves to crash in and then lift her up. She would just giggle when the waves would come in.
Grandpa loved his time with Emily too, here they are hanging out in the pool!
It’s a rough life, eating you spaghetti for lunch ordered pool side in your cabana – but hey, somebody’s got to do it, right?!?!?!
Our little family enjoying the beach!!
The guys all went into town one day on a fishing trip. They caught a whole bunch of Sea Bass and we had fish tacos for dinner – they were sooooooo YUMMY!! Here we are enjoying them in our suite.
And cuddles!! You have to take them as you can get them these days!
Playing Uno Splash poolside was tons of fun!!
Napping at the pool – Awww nice and relaxing!!
This is our whole clan on the last night there. We went down to watch the sunset. I could watch the sunset and listen to the waves crash in for hours and never get bored -- I just love the beach!!
